The ASK Foundation, a local nonprofit, has been working to fund improvements to the west side's only skate park since 2021.

Long Beach’s own Action Sports Kids Foundation will be featured Monday, Jan. 2, at the Tournament of Roses Parade in connection with the Meet the Nouns float.

Tune into the Rose Parade on January 2 to meet the Nouns, meme-like NFT characters created by Web 3 technology. Join Pickle, Cone and Shark as they jam out with a DJ, dancers and skaters from Long Beach’s Action Sports Kids (ASK) Foundation.

An effort is underway to repair and renovate the only skatepark in West Long Beach, and it just received support from one of the biggest names in skateboarding history.

Thanks to Tony Hawk’s nonprofit The Skatepark Project, Long Beach’s Action Sports Kids (ASK) Foundation is one step closer to actualizing a dream for kids and skaters in West Long Beach: a new skatepark for Silverado Park. ASK is leading the way to revitalize the skatepark, and is now significantly closer to its goal thanks to a $15,000 donation from The Skatepark Project.

The ASK Foundation has organized a team event to celebrate the newly opened skate park at Lincoln Park in downtown Long Beach. There will be demonstrations from skateboarding, roller skating, and BMX enthusiasts from 12-4pm on Saturday, February 26th. There will also be free gear, food, water, and a prize raffle.

Mike Donelon was recently featured on the podcast, Life in Motion, and was interviewed extensively about the ASK Foundation. They provide auxiliary services to at-risk youth and empower them through community involvement. Their program allows kids to be themselves, encouraging them to be their best, while also giving back to their community.

Silverado “Silvo” Skate Park is a local sanctuary for many skaters. But this summer, it will need the support of city officials and community funding in order to save it from becoming an unusable skate park.

This year, the July 4 “Big Bang on the Bay” fireworks party is back on, and raising money for 5 local charities including the ASK foundation.
